Wetherspoon announces huge change to drink prices from tomorrow - but it won't last long

Wetherspoons will be slashing the price on a number of its menu items in venues across England and Wales from tomorrow - with prices for drinks starting from just 99p.

The popular pub chain will offer discounts for a limited amount of time with the bargain prices only being available between January 3 and January 17, 2023.

Scottish Wetherspoon fans will not miss out, as pubs in Scotland will be offered the discounts between January 4 and January 17.

The discounts on offer will vary from pub to pub as each site prices its drinks differently but Wetherspoons has confirmed that the price of a pint of Ruddles beer will be 99p across 560 pubs.

The average price of a pint of Ruddles is £1.79 so customers buying the bev will be getting a roughly 45% discount, however, in Scotland and Wales, the price will be a tad more expensive at £1.10 due to licensing laws.

Other pints you can grab at a discount price include Carlsberg, Bud Light, Guinness and Stowford Press Apple Cider and Dark Berry Cider, and Worthingtons.

It is not just the price of a pint which will be slashed in Wetherspoons’ January sale as spirits including Bell’s whisky, Gordon’s gin, Duppy White rum, and AU vodka, are also featured.

Those who are taking part in Dry January or just not drinking alcohol can also benefit from the sale with low and non-alcohol drinks, Beck's Blue, Adnams Ghost Ship, Brewdog Punk AF, Heineken 0.0, Koppaberg and Erdinger, getting a discount.

Wetherspoons will also be cutting the price of coffee and soft drinks across 810 pubs to just 99p.

The January Sale will also be extending to food with the 640 Wetherspoon pubs selling its MOMA breakfast porridge for £1.49, the breakfast muffin for £1.99, and the breakfast wrap for £2.49.

Finally, Wetherspoon’s 3oz burger meal served with chips and a soft drink will cost only £4.49.

Wetherspoon founder and chairman Tim Martin said: "Department stores and shops hold their sales in January, so it is the perfect time to have a sale in the pub too.

"The range of drinks and food on sale in the pub is aimed at suiting a wide variety of tastes. This year we have included our biggest selection of low and non-alcoholic drinks.

"I believe that the January Sale will prove popular with our customers.”
