Westlink closed after "serious road traffic collision"

The Westlink has been closed in both directions following a serious road collision.

Details of the crash are unclear, but the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service has said that they received a 999 call at 6.53pm, “following reports of a RTC involving a motor cycle on the West Link in Belfast”.

An NIAS spokesperson added that “they despatched two Emergency Crews to the incident”.

The spokesperson added: “Following assessment and initial treatment, no patients were taken from the scene.”

The PSNI said: “The Westlink in Belfast has been closed in both directions between Broadway and Clifton Street following a serious road traffic collision.

"Officers are working to establish diversions, however, motorists are advised to seek alternative routes for their journey at this time.

"Traffic is being diverted off the M1 motorway at Stockman's Lane."
