Westlife star Nicky Byrne injures himself after falling on stage during Glasgow show

Westlife's Nicky Byrne has thanked fans for their messages of concern after he suffered a fall on stage during their show in Glasgow on Saturday night.

The Dubliner shared a series of images with fans showing a very large injury to his torso after he fell when mechanical stairs on stage opened without him realising.

Posting on Instagram he said: "Hey All, Thank you for all your well wishes! So last night I did have a little accident on stage in Glasgow, where I didn’t realise the mechanical stairs had opened behind me.

“A crazy moment which could have been a lot worse but I’m completely fine, a little bit battered and bruised but ok! I’ll see y’all back up there tonight.

“The show must go on. Thanks for all your well wishes. #ReallyFlyingWithoutWings”.

Nicky reassured fans that he was OK after being checked over by the 'wonderful medics' at the Hydro arena in the Scottish city.

Sharing footage of the incident, it shows the band walking off stage and Nicky falling below it after the stairs had opened as his fellow bandmates rushed to his aid.

Fans took to the post to share their relief that he was OK following the accident.

Another added: "You poor thing, that looks quite sore. Look after yourself."

Westlife have just kicked off their UK and Ireland tour and are due to play four nights in SSE Arena in Belfast next month.
