Westlife’s Mark Feehily has informed his fans he will absent for a number of the band’s gigs due to a surprise illness.
The singer told fans on social media he had been diagnosed with pneumonia after he began to feel unwell on Friday. He said he was “gutted” to have to miss out on Westlife’s performance but was following medical advice for his recovery.
Mark is currently in hospital and assured fans that he was making a fast recovery from the illness. However, he admitted that discovering he had pneumonia was a “scary feeling."

The 42-year-old wrote on Instagram: “Thankfully I got to the doctor and hospital very quickly and got on the antibiotics as soon as possible, so everything is currently under control. This does however mean missing more gigs which is horrible.”
He thanked fans for their supportive messages while he was in hospital. Although he will be absent for upcoming performances, Mark assured fans that he would return to the stage once he receives the all clear from medical staff.
Westlife are currently on the UK leg of their Wild Dreams tour. This was first scheduled to take place in summer 2020 but the band were forced to cancel due to Covid-19.
The tour will conclude with a show stopping performance in Dublin’s 3Arena on December 22.
