The Suns are the front-runner to sign free agent Bol Bol, according to The Athletic’s Shams Charania.
Last season, Bol played in 70 games for the Magic. However, Orlando released the former Oregon star on Tuesday. Bol’s release was not a total surprise as Jake Fischer of Yahoo Sports reported that two teams—Phoenix and Dallas—were in the mix for potentially crafting a deal for the big man around the time of this year’s NBA draft.
Now, according to Charania, rival teams are expecting Bol to sign with Phoenix in the near future. If he lands in Phoenix, he’ll join a star-studded Suns’ squad that includes Kevin Durant, Devin Booker, Bradley Beal and Deandre Ayton.
Bol, the No. 44 pick in the 2019 NBA draft, averaged a career-high 9.1 points, 5.8 rebounds, 1.0 assists and 1.2 blocks per game in Orlando while shooting 54.6% from the field.
Prior to Bol’s Magic tenure, he spent three seasons with the Nuggets, averaging 2.7 points, 1.2 rebounds and 0.3 blocks in 53 games played.
