Western Australia bakes as scorching heatwave continues

Western Australia is sweating through another scorching day amid a heatwave that has melted many temperature records.

Perth Airport had climbed to 42.7C before midday on Friday and the city reached 40.4, while the Swan Valley and Pearce hit 43.5C and 43.6 respectively, the Bureau of Meteorology said.
