West Lothian The Snuts member to star in BBC Introducing Scottish Act of the Year TV show

West Lothian musician and one quarter of award-winning local band The Snuts, Callum Wilson, will be embarking on a new angle of music as he joins a host of judges to decide the BBC Introducing Scottish Act of the Year.

The Snuts have joined elite Scottish bands and artists such as Lewis Capaldi and Paolo Nutini in modern folklore as their debut album 'W.L' (Whitburn Loopy) hit heights as it soared in at number one back in April 2021.

The band have since been on an amazing upward trajectory, with new songs like 'Burn The Empire' and 'Zuckerpunch' ready to be played at Scottish festival TRNSMT in the summer.

But before the summer festivities begin, Callum has a job to do on Saturday night - to deliberate and announce who is BBC's Introducing Scottish Act of the Year.

Four finalists were selected from hundreds of entries when BBC Introducing in Scotland launched their search to find the best new music and artists in Scotland earlier this year.

The finalists perform in front of a live audience and an expert panel of judges including our very own The Snuts bassist Callum Wilson, as well as Chvrches' Lauren Mayberry, BBC Radio 1 DJ Gemma Bradley and Sam McTrusty from Twin Atlantic.

The four finalists are fellow West Lothian band Dictator, Glaswegian Lizzie Reid, Vanvies and BEMZ, all four are very deserving winners of the award - but there can only be one!

Musician Shereen Cutkelvin said: “There is an undeniable amount of talent in Scotland so we are super excited for the opportunity to shine a light on these incredible artists!”

You can tune into BBC Introducing Scottish Act of the Year on Saturday, April 9 on BBC Scotland from 10pm.
