West Lothian teen desperate to keep holiday romance going after meeting man in Magaluf

A West Lothian woman who met her boyfriend in Magaluf is determined to keep their relationship going, despite living over 400 miles apart.

Beth Clinkscales, 19, met her boyfriend Amir Saleh last summer while on holiday with her pals, and immediately fell for him, despite only being away for some sun.

Amir, also 19, was staying at the same resort as Beth and after becoming drawn to each other, they agreed to stay in touch when they arrived back in the UK.

The Record reports that after attending a music festival a few weeks after their Magaluf love affair, the spark was still there, with Beth flying out to Wales to visit Amir - where the pair became official.

Now, defying all odds, with 400-mile distance between the two is currently not enough to make them want to abandon the relationship. Beth and Amir are even returning to Magaluf later this year, only this time, they will be going as an item.

Beth said: "In Magaluf, we kept bumping into each other and I really liked him, but I thought it was too good to be true.

"I didn't think I wanted anything serious at the time, but when we spoke it felt like we'd known each other for years.

"I had only just ended a relationship at the time and had no intention of starting another - especially not on a girls' holiday.

"But he treated me the exact way I wanted to be treated and did everything right without even trying.

"Now we have a long-distance relationship and every six weeks I get on a flight to see him, but it's all worth it."

Beth is a paramedic science student and after arriving in the Spanish town with six close friends, she kept bumping into her soon-to-be partner, Amir, and his group of pals.

Beth and Amir met up after Magaluf at Creamfields music festival in Cheshire, with both of them speaking about feeling even more drawn to each other than when they initially met.

She added: "I didn't think I wanted anything serious at the time. But when we spoke it felt like we'd known each other for years."

"I thought it was too good to be true - I got a bit upset when I had to say goodbye."

Now, the topic of relocating to be nearer one and other is definitely on the cards, with Beth open to upping sticks and moving to Wales after finishing her degree at Queen Margaret University.

Although she had no intentions of meeting a new boyfriend while on holiday, Beth is definitely glad she maintained contact with Amir, saying: "He did everything right without even trying. I didn't really expect it to last after we left Magaluf.

"People don't expect you can ever go on a girls holiday and find someone - but it is possible!

"I never expected to be in a long-distance relationship. It's a big commitment but its worth it.

"He's 400 miles away but he's my biggest supporter."
