West Lothian stock car ace seals Cowdenbeath hat-trick

Livingston’s Robbie Armit was in fine form in Fife as he narrowly missed out on a clean sweep at the Cowdenbeath Racewall, writes Jim Turner.

Armit started proceedings by taking his car through to win the Dash for the Tyre race and then went on to win the first Ministox heat.

In heat two, he crossed the finish line in second spot but was elevated into first place following a penalty to make it a hat-trick of wins.

The final was hectic, with a complete restart and two race suspensions.

With the clean sweep in sight, Armit was sent crashing into the pit bend wall and out of the race.

Elsewhere on the night, Bobby Brandon (Fauldhouse) picked up a sixth in the opening heat and then was eighth in the final whereas Owen Marshall (Blackridge) was ninth in the Dash for the Tyre and the second heat but crashed out during the final.

The Micro F2 drivers were in good form with East Calder’s Caitlin Mitchell having a mixed time of it.

During the opening heat she was catching the leading car but got squeezed against the wall approaching the finish line.

She was back out for heat two and dominated in a win but finished seventh in heat three.

Broxburn’s Evie McLellan did well in her races, finishing ninth in the opening heat and sixth in her second but retired during the final.

Jordan Cassie of Armadale had a quiet night with his saloon, starting off with a sixth place in the opening heat and then followed that up with eighth in heat two and fifth in the final.

Daniel Marshall (Blackridge) made his debut in the Prostock Basics. He showed a good turn of speed but was caught up in a few shunts while Nicole Russell of Longridge was sixth then seventh in her heats.

Livingston’s Aimee Winfield picked up a fourth place in the second heat but wasn’t classified during the final.

Sean McConnachie (Wilkieston) was racing his Unlimited Banger and picked up a third place in heat two and then was second in the final.
