West Lothian dance duo LF System are on track to join fellow Scot Calvin Harris with the longest running UK number one dance record of all time with their single, ‘Afraid To Feel’.
The track is headed for eight weeks at number one tomorrow, fending off viral sensation Eliza Rose and platinum selling artists Beyoncé and David Guetta.
Now a Gold certified single, with over 45 million UK streams, 95 million global streams and one million global Shazams, ‘Afraid To Feel’ has been lighting up dancefloors at festivals and clubs across the country, taking down pop heavyweights all summer for the coveted number one spot.
Since its release in May, the track has been championed by Tiesto, David Guetta, Jamie Jones, Noizu and more, ruling the airwaves as the most played track on Radio 1, Kiss FM and Capital after being crowned as Clara Amfo’s Hottest Record on Radio 1’s Future Sounds and Radio 1’s Tune of the Week.
With millions of video views on TikTok and remixes from Running Back records founder Gerd Janson, CID and Tommy Villiers, ‘Afraid To Feel’ has become the sound of summer 2022.
LF System - Conor Larkman and Sean Finnigan - said: “We really don’t have the words to describe how thankful we are. We only left our day jobs this year and are now on the verge of breaking records.
“We can’t thank everyone enough for the love and support and are very excited about where our future lies. We are using the success to inspire some of the most exciting music we’ve worked on yet and we can’t wait to take things to the next level and share it with the world.”
After only meeting a couple of years ago, the West Lothian duo began playing B2B sets together at Edinburgh’s FLY club nights before dropping their own tracks on Soundcloud as LF SYSTEM.
Their euphoric blend of uptempo disco and house earnt their debut single Dancing Cliché support from names like Ewan McVicar, Elliott Adamson, Danny Howard and TSHA, and later, a full commercial release through Warner Records before spending six weeks on the Radio 1 playlist.
The Blessed Madonna’s One To Watch for 2022, LF System have been busy this year selling out venues across the UK including The Depot in Cardiff, Night Tales in London and a home show at Sneaky Pete’s in Edinburgh.
As well as joining Danny Howard for a show in Ibiza’s legendary Amnesia superclub and Radio 1’s Big Weekend, this summer has seen the boys’ unforgettable Boiler Room debut, as well as remix duties for Fatboy Slim and Carl Cox (‘Speed Trials On Acid’) and Jodie Harsh (‘No Sleep’).
With a special guest appearance alongside Gorgon City at their Realm tour in Liverpool and a set at The Warehouse Project’s legendary Halloween party in Manchester on the horizon, there’s no slowing down for LF System.
