Swim-IT members have produced a string of brilliant performances in recent weeks as they got 2023 off to a fantastic start.
A team of seven swimmers combined to set 28 new personal bests as well as win 17 medals and set two new club records at the Lothian Junior Graded Meet.
The team of Ellie Boyd, Myla Lamie, Owen McCreadie, Carolina Santos, Dominik Santos, Jackie Stewart and Sarah Stewart were in stunning form.
Swim-IT head coach Fiona Donald heaped praise on the young swimmers and said: “It was a brilliant day and we’re all super proud of each of them. They produced some fantastic swimming.”
The squad followed that up with five club records being broken in the second round of the East District Championships.
The team of Merryn Binnie, Mia MacLeod, Aaron McDowell, Corey McDowell, Abbi Morton, Jackie Stewart and Dominik Santos produced a total of 10 personal bests, four top-10 finishes and four medals with two silvers and two bronzes.
Coach Donald said: “It was a brilliant start to the year for them. And special praise to Corey, Jackie and Dominik who
were brilliant in their very first East District Championship event.”
They finished the busy spell at Grangemouth for the Junior Age Group and Middle Age Group meetings.
The trio of Myla Lamie, Owen McCreadie and Sarah Stewart competed in the former and collectively swam new personal best times in all 12 events.
They tallied 10 top-10 finishes as well as bringing home a pair of gold medals.
Three club swimmers also competed in the MAGs meeting with Merryn Binnie, Lily Donald and Abbi Morton picking up two bronze medals.
They also grabbed seven new personal best times and three top-10 finishes, while Merryn broke her own 200 Individual Medley Scottish record by an incredible five seconds.
