West Ham boss David Moyes once again has centre-back injury problems to deal with ahead of Wednesday night’s Premier League meeting with Liverpool.

Moyes was forced to shift to a back three in the absence of Kurt Zouma and Craig Dawson during Sunday’s meeting with Southampton and suggested the shift in balance had a role to play in the 1-1 draw.

Zouma has been missing with illness while Dawson was forced off late in last week’s Europa Conference League win over Anderlecht with a dead leg.

Speaking on Tuesday morning ahead of the trip to Anfield, Moyes could not confirm whether either would return.

“Kurt has done a little bit of training but we don’t know if he’ll be right yet,” Moyes said. “Craig Dawson we’re not sure about, so not much change from where we were on Sunday.”

Moyes will hope that at least one of the pair is fit, allowing him to revive the 4-2-3-1 formation that has seen the Hammers return to form since the international break.

The Scot must also decide whether top scorer Gianluca Scamacca is ready to start again, having said the Italian had “run out of steam”, prompting his unpopular late substitution at St Mary’s as West Ham pushed for a winner.

West Ham predicted lineup (4-2-3-1): Fabianski; Johnson, Kehrer, Zouma, Cresswell; Rice, Soucek; Bowen, Paqueta, Fornals; Antonio
