West Ham Women have followed the footballing world in paying a fitting tribute to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II ahead of the big state funeral taking place on this upcoming bank holiday Monday.
Last weekend, the whole world was rocked by the news that Queen Elizabeth II had passed away peacefully at Balmoral Castle in Scotland. Since the news was announced, the Premier League and FA decide to cancel the upcoming round of fixtures that weekend. This meant that Paul Konchesky's domestic debut against Chelsea was postponed whilst the men's side had their fixture against Newcastle pushed back for a later date.
Fast forward a week and with all football going ahead, with the state funeral scheduled for this upcoming Monday in what is expected to be the biggest Policing operation in recent history, all clubs have been paying their respects to the late Queen. At Goodison Park, both David Moyes and Frank Lampard laid down flowers on the pitch ahead of the one-minute silence. It's important to remember that on the day the news originally broke about the Queen's death, all of Man United, Arsenal and the Hammers had their respective UEFA Europa League and Conference League fixtures to fulfil.
