West Ham Women confirm four departures as summer exodus continues

West Ham Women have confirmed four players will leave the club when their contracts expire at the end of the month.

Last season was a turbulent one for the Hammers, who finished eighth in the Women's Super League after winning just six of their 22 league games. Manager Paul Konchesky left the club at the end of the campaign after just one season at the helm, and a number of players are now set to follow him through the exit door.

Talented defender Grace Fisk is among those leaving for pastures new after three-and-a-half years at the Chigwell Construction Stadium. The 25-year-old has made 84 appearances in total for West Ham, which puts her third in the all-time appearance records.

Fellow defender Lucy Parker, who received a first senior England call-up last September, is also set to leave after a two-year stay in East London during which she made 40 appearances for the Hammers. Both Parker and Fisk turned down new West Ham contracts.

Goalkeeper Sophie Hillyerd, who has spent the past season as an understudy to Mackenzie Arnold, and midfielder Brooke Cairns will also leave the club this summer.

News of the quartet's departures comes after it was revealed West Ham legend Kate Longhurst would not be signing a new deal. The midfielder played her 130th and final match for the club in the 2-2 draw with Spurs on the final day of the season.

In addition, Amalie Thestrup's loan deal with West Ham comes to an end at the end of the month. The Denmark forward made eleven appearances in total having joined the club in January from PSV Eindhoven.

In a statement on Thursday, a club spokesperson said: "Everyone at West Ham United would like to thank Kate, Amalie, Grace, Lucy, Sophie and Brooke for the time they have spent with the Club. We thank them for the roles that they have played in the Club’s journey, and we wish them every success for the future."
