West Ham Transfer News: Iron Seeking Antonio Replacement

The latest West Ham transfer news indicates that the Hammers could enter the loan market in January to sign a new striker.

On Monday, Julen Lopetegui’s men beat Wolves 2-1 in the Premier League thanks to goals from Tomas Soucek and Jarrod Bowen.

That win eased the pressure on Lopetegui and the Spaniard is still keen to strengthen his forward line next month. Especially now he has been left short on numbers.

Doubts still exist around Lopetegui’s future in east London but the club will now prioritise a new signing. With or without the 58-year-old at the helm.

West Ham Transfer News Reveals Hammers Seeking New Striker

Last weekend, Michail Antonio was involved in a serious car crash in Essex. His resulting injuries – which include a fractured leg – has ruled out the Jamaican forward for approximately 12 months.

Furthermore, the club’s leading scorer in the Premier League may call time on his career after the incident. After all, Antonio turns 35 in March.

No matter what happens with Antonio, West Ham want to reinforce their attack going into 2025. At the time of writing, only Danny Ings and Jarrod Bowen can be relied upon in the striker role.

Despite spending big on Niklas Fulkrug in the summer, the German international has struggled on and off the pitch. His time at the London Stadium has been blighted by an achilles problem and has just one goal to his name so far.

The Hammers are one of the lowest scorers in England’s elite this season and can’t hang around for Fulkrug to get back to his best.

At this stage, a loan deal for a new striker is the most convenient option. Evan Ferguson is a prime candidate to fill the void after Brighton revealed they’ll let him leave on a temporary basis next month.

However, competition for Ferguson is expected to be fierce. A move to London could tempt the Irish forward as he aims to reignite his career.

The east Londoners won’t rule out any permanent deals, either. Finances are somewhat restricted which would limit the Iron somewhat.

On Monday, Julen Lopetegui’s side are back in league action as they take on Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium. The best football betting sites in the UK price the Hammers at 7/2 to win.
