West Ham United have been made the favourites to win the Europa Conference League later this season, according to one data expert.
The Hammers, in their second consecutive campaign in European football, find themselves in the Round of 16 in the Europa Conference League having won their group stage campaign, meaning that they could bypass the competition’s play-off knockout rounds later this month.
David Moyes’ side created history in the competition earlier this season by winning all six group matches in the Europa Conference League, the first team ever in two seasons to achieve that.

Despite high profile clubs such as Villarreal, Lazio, Nice and Fiorentina all remaining in the competition, data from FiveThirtyEight suggests West Ham are favourites for the competition.
The data has given West Ham a 21% chance of winning the competition, 6% higher than any other side. Last season’s Champions League semi-finalists Villareal are second favourites at 15%, narrowly ahead of Italian side Lazio 14%. French side Nice (12%) are the only other team given a chance of over 10% to win the competition as a whole.
