West Ham pushing for Filip Kostic transfer on Deadline Day but time running out in striker hunt

West Ham are running out of time in their quest to sign a striker, with attentions turning towards Friday night’s Premier League clash with Luton.

The Hammers have been keen to bring in a new forward after selling Gianluca Scamacca to Atalanta, but a move for Corinthians’ Yuri Alberto failed to materialise this week, despite technical director Tim Steidten making the trip to Brazil for negotiations.

Talks remain open with Sevilla and Paris Saint-Germain over possible deals for Youssef En-Nesyri and Hugo Ekitike respectively, but neither player is close to making the switch and, given the proximity of Friday’s 11pm deadline, a loan deal is rated more likely than any permanent signing.

West Ham are also continuing to push for Juventus wing-back Filip Kostic, who has been a long-term target, but the Turin club have so far knocked back all approaches.

It is a busy day for the Hammers, who found out their Europa League group stage opponents in the lunchtime draw and then travel to Kenilworth Road on Friday night, with the timing of that fixture complicating David Moyes’s transfer plans.

Were an overseas signing to arrive, West Ham would need to move one non-homegrown player on to make room in their squad. Maxwell Cornet is a target for Everton but Moyes will need to make a decision over whether to include the Ivorian in his squad on Friday evening or else leave him free to negotiate a possible departure.
