West Ham player ratings vs Tottenham: Lucas Paqueta excellent in deeper role but Vladimir Coufal poor again

West Ham bounced back from their Newcastle disappointment to earn a 1-1 derby draw with Tottenham at the London Stadium.

It was a disastrous start from the Hammers, as Brennan Johnson gave Spurs an early lead, but Kurt Zouma’s header got the hosts level within 15 minutes.

Michail Antonio wasted a huge chance after the break, as West Ham were forced to settle for a point, one that leaves them seventh in the table.

Here’s how David Moyes’s side rated at the London Stadium...

Lukasz Fabianski 6

In for the injured Areola. Some of his kicking was excellent.

Vladimir Coufal 5

Run ragged by Anthony Gordon at Newcastle on Saturday and given a tough time again here by Timo Werner. Alert at the back-post to deny the German a certain winner.

Konstantinos Mavropanos 6

A nuisance in the Tottenham box at set-pieces, putting Guglielmo Vicario under pressure.

Kurt Zouma 7

Glanced the leveller in off his back from Bowen’s corner. Did well to avoid being exposed one-on-one against Son.

Emerson 6

Relationship with Kudus on the left is still a work in progress but is improving each week.

Tomas Soucek 6

Consigned to a defensive midfield role and went largely unnoticed.

James Ward-Prowse 7

Played as the most advanced of the midfield three and won the ball in some good positions up the pitch. Great ball from deep inside his own half put Antonio clean through but striker couldn't score.

Jarrod Bowen 6

Missed an early sitter but delivered the corner that led to Zouma’s equaliser.

Lucas Paqueta 7

Played in a much deeper role than in recent weeks. Lucky not to be punished when surrendering possession on edge of own box, with Pedro Porro shooting wide, but otherwise excellent.

Mohammed Kudus 7

Good pressing work and delivery made chance that Bowen should have taken early on.

Michail Antonio 6

Lots of hard running, including off the right-flank when interchanging with Bowen. Tested Vicario with stinging strike, then wasted a glaring chance having held off Van de Ven. Booked.
