West Ham player ratings vs Silkeborg: Nayef Aguerd enjoys debut as Manuel Lanzini stakes his claim

West Ham were not at their best but confirmed top spot in their Europa League group with a 1-0 win over Silkeborg.

Manuel Lanzini scored the only goal from the penalty spot at London Stadium.

Here’s how David Moyes’ side rated at the London Stadium...

Alphonse Areola 7

Made a fine save to deny Tengstedt having held a watching brief for most of the first hour, then made smart block at feet of

Vladimir Coufal 6

Lovely clipped cross set up Benrahma chance to double lead. Booked.

Ben Johnson 6

Some aggressive, front-foot defending snuffed out the occasional Silkeborg before they really got going.

Nayef Aguerd 7

A long-awaited debut for the £28million summer signing and he will not have an easier 76 minutes in his Hammers career. Did showcase a decent range of passing.

Angelo Ogbonna 6

Captain for the night and, like his centre-back partners, was hardly worked.

Emerson 6

Slightly more defensive work to do than Coufal on the opposite flank. Solid enough without posing much attacking threat.

Conor Coventry 7

Only his second start of the campaign but looked assured. The kind of midfield player West Ham seem to have little trouble producing. Booked.

Manuel Lanzini 7

Seems heavily out of favour this season but put in a decent showing here and dispatched penalty in style.

Pablo Fornals 6

A couple of terrific passes to break the lines but form has dropped off a touch in recent weeks after bright start to the season.

Said Benrahma 7

Glanced header just wide before the break, then saw effort blocked behind from close quarters. Overhit pass in behind allowed Antonio to win penalty. Early withdrawal suggests he will keep his shirt at Old Trafford.

Michail Antonio 6

Forced Larsen into smart early stop, then rather bought penalty.

Substitutes

Flynn Downes (Fornals 68’)

That he did not start here was another show of his rise after successive Premier League starts.

Gianluca Scamacca (Benrahma 68’)

Booked.

Thilo Kehrer (Aguerd 76’)

Almost caught ball-watching seconds after coming on but bailed out by Areola.

Declan Rice (Coventry 83’)

N/A

Tomas Soucek (Antonio 84’)

N/A

Unused: Randolph, Hegyi, Cresswell, Zouma, Potts, Forson
