West Ham player Michail Antonio makes Manchester United Premier League title prediction

West Ham striker Michail Antonio has backed Manchester United to make a shock charge for the Premier League title this season.

An outstanding run of form since the World Cup break has seen United claw themselves onto the fringes of the title race. Erik ten Hag's side are eight points off table-toppers Arsenal, but sit just six short of Man City having played a game less.

Having picked up 23 points from a possible 30 since domestic action resumed, United can boast the best form in the league and arguably the best player in Marcus Rashford, whose 10 goals in as many games during that period have lifted the Reds into a comfortable third place.

Sunday's Carabao Cup win over Newcastle only intensified momentum going into the latter third of the season, and Hammers striker Antonio believes United won't be stopped between now and May.

“I’m going to throw a spanner in the works,” Antonio told The Footballer's Football Podcast. “Man United are winning the league. They have the momentum right now. Man City have been on and off, Arsenal since coming back from the World Cup have been on and off. Rashford’s carrying this United team and it looks like he’s carrying them to a title.”

Antonio's West Ham side face a trip to Old Trafford for the fifth round of the FA Cup on Wednesday evening, with Ten Hag allowed just two full days to prepare following their win at Wembley. The Dutchman admitted on Tuesday that both Fred and Luke Shaw are doubtful for the visit of David Moyes' side, while Anthony Martial remains sidelined.

Victory at home would hand United a place in the quarter-finals, with the draw taking place after Sheffield United vs Tottenham Hotspur. The winner of United vs West Ham will be given ball No.7, with the likes of Man City, Fulham and Brighton already through.
