West Ham make Newport County transfer decision as January window re-opens

West Ham United have recalled one of their young players who spent the first half of the 2022/23 season out on loan.

Young Hammers forward Thierry Nevers has been out in League Two in south Wales with Newport County in what was the 20-year-old’s first senior experience of a loan exit.

Nevers made 17 appearances in all competitions for the League Two side, scoring once and providing two assists in England’s fourth tier. However, he made just seven starts for Newport, two of which were in the Papa John’s Trophy.

It is likely that Nevers will leave West Ham again this month, with a potential relocation of his loan exit on the cards.

Reports have also suggested that midfielder Dan Chesters, who is also out on loan in League Two with Colchester United, is set to have his loan spell in Essex terminated.

Despite being left out of Colchester’s squad for their league clash against Swindon Town on New Year’s Day, football.london understands that at present, Chesters’ loan spell is yet to come to an end.

Chesters has made 18 appearances for Colchester this season in all competitions, winning eight starts and providing two assists. He was also named on West Ham’s bench for their Europa Conference League home win against Danish side Viborg in August.
