West Ham United manager David Moyes has provided an injury update on four players ahead of Sunday’s trip to rivals Tottenham Hotspur.
The Hammers had injury concerns over seven players at the start of the week following their 1-1 draw with Chelsea six days ago. Since then, goalkeeper Alphonse Areola has returned to training after missing two games with a hamstring issue. Striker Gianluca Scamacca has also returned to training after a month on the sidelines with a knee issue.
In the game with Chelsea, midfielder Lucas Paqueta was forced off inside the opening 15 minutes, while centre-back Nayef Aguerd came off in the second half with respective shoulder and groin injuries.

Moyes has said that Paqueta will definitely miss the trip to Tottenham, but Aguerd has a chance of being involved. Moyes also added that while Scamacca is in training, if he is in the squad, he is only likely to make a cameo appearance off the bench.
“Lucas Paqueta’s not going to be available for the game,” said Moyes. “Nayef has got a chance but we’re not sure yet if he’s going to make it or not.
“Look, it’s great that Gianluca’s back but he’s nowhere near ready to be selected. I might try and involve him but I’ve got to say, it would be minimum minutes, he’s just back really.”
Moyes also provided an update on winger Maxwel Cornet, who has missed four and a half months of action with a calf injury.
Asked if he is set to return following a recent Instagram post, Moyes said that Cornet is due to be back at Rush Green on Monday, but cannot guarantee that the Ivorian will be instantly returning to training.
“We’re looking forward to that, I’ve got to say, looking forward to getting him back,” added Moyes. “It seems like a long time since we’ve had him. We’re probably due him back next Monday, whether that means training or whether that means we’ve got periods of breaking him in.
“We’ll certainly have to build him to get back and be ready to play, that is for sure.”
