Former West Ham United player Don Hutchison has heralded Declan Rice as one of the best midfielders in Europe following his superb Hammers form.
Hutchison's opinion is one West Ham manager David Moyes agrees with having previously described him as "arguably one of the best young midfield players in Europe."
Rice has taken his game to a new level this campaign having risen to Moyes' challenge to add an attacking element to his repertoire.
On social media Hutchison was asked if he could pick one, who would he choose between West Ham star Rice and Monaco's French midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni.
"Declan Rice is emerging as the best number eight in Europe!" Hutchison replied.
West Ham have no intention of letting Rice leave with the midfielder tied down to a long contract and the club in Europe the midfielder is settled at the Hammers.
However, Moyes has admitted that if anyone was looking at a transfer for Rice the fee would need to be a British record transfer record of "far, far more than £100million."
Rice's emergence as more of an attacking threat has been encouraged by Moyes and the England international is thriving as a result. Rice revealed earlier this month that he is taken inspiration from Steven Gerrard to help further this game.
"Now I have gone more box-to-box I have been watching Steven Gerrard just because of how good he was," Rice told The Telegraph.
"He had everything. He could tackle, was tenacious, was fast, was a leader, could score goals, he wore his heart on his sleeve.
"He was just unbelievable. He was one of the greats but you don’t actually really fully appreciate him until you watch him."
