West Bridgford restaurant La Storia bans customers who failed to turn up after weekend of 'no shows'

Bosses at a family-run Italian restaurant in West Bridgford say a small number of customers have been banned after a frustrating weekend of 'no shows'. Staff at La Storia moved to highlight instances of customers not honouring reservations by not turning up - cases which leave the restaurant out of pocket.

Managers took to Instagram on Saturday evening (April 8) to say bookings for six tables had not been honoured over the course of Friday and Saturday. In one case, a select few customers who tried to reschedule their reservation were banned, the post on social media clarified.

"One table, after we called them an hour later, tried to have the audacity to reschedule the booking and then we suffered threatening behaviour when saying that they're not allowed back," the statement on Instagram read.

Staff at the restaurant in Musters Road, opposite the Trent Bridge Cricket Ground, said the behaviour of the diners culpable had been 'absolutely shocking'. Managers said that, of the 'no-show' customers, none "had any legitimate excuse for not showing or had not given us a heads up".

The statement on Instagram added: "If we have six tables not turn up per week that's almost £50,000 a year [lost]. We've said this in the past but, when making reservations at restaurants, do so with the utmost respect - whether that's a chain restaurant or an independent like us!

"We take deposits, but this doesn't cover the huge loss of repeated no shows. Thank you to those who are not in this category, and all our regulars who never lets us down."

Managers said they charge a 'no-show fee' and that deposits of £10 per-person are taken for bookings. People in the comments section offered support for the restaurant, with one user writing: "It's just complete and utter rudeness. It shows a total lack of respect. So sorry you're going through that."

"So sorry to hear this. You are such a stunning restaurant with the best food and drinks and don't deserve such negative, toxic energy. Sending love," wrote another.
