NEW DELHI: The large-scale violence during the West Bengal panchayat election, which witnessed the killing of about 40 people and massive poll-related irregularities, has elicited conflicting responses from the central and state units of the Congress.
While the Congress’s central leadership has officially given a clean chit to the Trinamool Congress (TMC) government, the state unit of the party is going hammer and tongs against the state dispensation and chief minister Mamata Banerjee.
