KOLKATA/BEHRAMPORE: The Bengal BJP faced a setback on Sunday after Murshidabad MLA and state secretary Gouri Shankar Ghosh quit the party post after a reshuffle in the district organisation. His resignation came a day after state vice-president Saumitra Khan trained guns on his partymen for the poll debacle in Asansol and Ballygunge.
Ghosh, who did not mince words in his letter to state president Sukanta Majumdar, said he was a district president for two consecutive terms since 2016. He claimed that the recent rejig had created a crisis of able leaders that was acting to the advantage of the Trinamool Congress. In Murshidabad, BJP lost both Murshidabad and Ziaganj-Azimganj municipalities.
