KOLKATA: The Bengal cabinet on Monday approved a proposal to allot four bicycle manufacturing companies 5 acres each at Vidyasagar industrial park in Kharagpur, said industries minister Partha Chatterjee. The WBIDC park will thus soon become home to a 20-acre cycle hub.
Chatterjee said the four companies — Unirox, Milan, Luna and Krypton — would each be investing around Rs 10 crore and employing 150 staffers. An official said the manufacturers would initially produce bicycle parts and tyres, and may later venture into e-bicycles.
