In just over three weeks' time, the 2022 summer transfer window will close. And it's at that point that Chelsea co-owner Todd Boehly and the club's head coach Thomas Tuchel can truly reflect upon whether the club did the business required.
Boehly is acting as interim sporting director following the departures of long-standing club director Marina Graovskaia and technical advisor Petr Cech. It's resulted in a scattergun approach from Chelsea in the transfer market, although the signings of Kalidou Koulibaly, Marc Cucurella and Raheem Sterling are proof that it can work.
The Blues are not done yet either with Tuchel keen on further reinforcements. A third bid for Wesley Fofana is expected to be submitted in the coming days while Chelsea are confident they can agree a fee with Barcelona for Frenkie de Jong. Whether the Dutchman is prepared to walk away from the Camp Nou remains the sticking point.
