A Welsh University has topped the list for student life and teaching in UK student-led national awards. Aberystwyth University took the crown for student life and also for teaching and lecturing quality in the WhatUni Student Choice Awards - the UK’s leading student-led university awards.
It also ranked third out of 10 for university of the year in the awards which rank the UK’s universities in a number of categories, according to students. This year 35,000 verified student reviews from more than 240 higher education institutions across the UK saw Aberystwyth and a number of other Welsh universities score highly.
Bangor University came eight out of 10 for university of the year while Cardiff University came third out of 10 for student life and Swansea University sixth in that category.

Welsh universities dominated the lectures and teaching quality categories with five out of the top ten positions held by institutions in Wales. Wrexham Glyndwr University came in second after Aberystwyth, with Bangor, Swansea, and the University of Wales, Trinity Saint David all beating off the competition to secure a top-ten ranking.
Cardiff University was the highest placed Welsh University in the Students’ Union category, winning the number two slot in the UK and tantalisingly close to beating defending champions and six-time winner, The University of Sheffield.
