Welsh shopping centre has been put up for auction

A shopping centre is going up for auction this month.

Buckley Shopping Centre in Flintshire is set to go under the hammer with Allsop.

The centre includes 19 shops across just over 30,000 sq ft of retail space. There are three empty retail units and a vacant first floor office suite comprising 1,434 sq ft. It is up for auction on May 25 - with a guide price of offers over £1.9m.

Tenants include Iceland, Savers, Barnardos, Tenovus and Mencap. They pay annual rent of over £200,000 to the current landlord with Iceland the biggest retailer on the site, paying nearly £69,000 a year.

A spokesman for Allsop said: "The upper floors may be suitable for conversion to residential use subject to the existing lease and all necessary consents.

"The centre benefits from entrances at each end of the precinct with the shop units being arranged around a central mall area together with two enclosed service yards

"There is direct pedestrian access to the local authority controlled car park immediately to the south of the property."

Last year it was announced that Flintshire Council is looking to appoint consultants to draw up a new blueprint for a key part of the Flintshire town. The area under consideration to be redesigned is bordered by Brunswick Road, running from the Cross to the junction with Precinct Way and down to Aldi.

Officials from the local authority said the aim was to boost the number of visitors to the town.
