Welsh Love Island star Paige Thorne has narrowly avoided being dumped from the villa along with her partner, Adam Collard. The pair have been coupled up for around a fortnight and experienced a whirlwind romance following the departure of Paige’s former flame, Jacques O’Neill, from the villa.
Paige, a 24-year-old paramedic from Swansea, appeared nervous as the islanders gathered around the firepit waiting for the result. Following a dramatic cliffhanger on Tuesday night, fellow islander Gemma Owen received the all important text which revealed that Paige and Adam would remain on the show.
The couple were up against Danica and Jamie and Dami and Indiyah after the least popular couples were revealed following the latest public vote. Danica and Jamie were the latest unlucky pair booted back home to the UK from sunny Mallorca, leaving the islanders devastated. However, fans weren't surprised by the exit as many suggested on Twitter on Tuesday that Danica and Jamie would be the unlucky pair to go home. Out of the at risk couples, they have been together for the shortest period of time. They also both entered the villa part way through the series.
But following Danica and Jamie's departure, a number of viewers have now come forward with a prediction that Paige and Adam might be next to leave. One Twitter user said: "Why on earth was Danica and Jamie voted out? But Paige and Adam got saved? Are you joking?"
Another wrote: "Ok next couple out is Adam and Paige then we’ve got Dami and Indiyah into the final four." A third fan said: "Next out is Paige and Adam. can we please make it happen."
Following her exit, Danica said she was pleased to be walking out of the villa with someone she could see a future with. It followed her series of rejections from men on the show. She said: "I came in, I was this big ballsy confident bombshell [and] I thought I could take any man I want to. It was a bit harder than anticipated but, do you know what, I stayed and I really do feel like I've walked out with the right guy."
Jamie added: "I went in there looking for a genuine connection and I feel like I have done that.
The Love Island final will air next week, Monday, August 1, when one couple will be crowned winners. It was revealed last week that last year's champions, Liam Reardon and Millie Court have split up.
