Welsh footballer Gareth Bale launches new beer range bearing his name

Welsh footballer Gareth Bale has teamed up with Glamorgan Brewing Co to bring a trio of beers bearing his name to a wider market.

Bale Ale was initially brewed by SA Brain & Co to celebrate the launch of his Elevens Bar & Grill venue in the centre of Cardiff.

Now, in a brewing deal with Llantrisant-based Glamorgan Brewing Co, Gareth Ale is being produced alongside Bale Lager and new product Bale Pale.

All three, in can form, will be made available to the off-trade and supermarkets over the next few weeks.

Richard Anstee, managing director of Glamorgan Brewing Co said, “A pint of lager whilst watching the football is one of life’s simple pleasures. As an independent, family-owned business, it’s amazing to be working with Gareth and his team to give more people the opportunity to sample what we have to offer this summer.”

Mr Bale said “The feedback to our collaboration with Glamorgan has been great - we’re really excited to be extending the partnership; it’s especially nice to be working with a brewery so local to me in South Wales, based just a few miles from where I grew up.”

On where the cans could be sold Mr Anstee said: "We are looking to work with both local and national supermarkets; CK’s supermarkets are keen to list as soon as available, along with Filco and Spar. We are in exciting talks with others who are keen to look at the cans when they have received samples. This will all start to roll out in the coming weeks and months."

SA Brain struck a deal with Marston’s in 2020 which saw the pub company taking on the long-term leases on more than 140 Brains pubs. This saw Mr Bale signed a new 15-year lease, turning Elevens into a fully independent venue, co-owned with his business partner Jamie Humphrys - through Elevens Group.

In another hospitality venture Mr Bale opened his mini-golf bar and restaurant concept Par 59 in the centre of Cardiff earlier this year. Last month planning permission was given for a second Par 59 venue in Bristol.
