Although she is best known for her roles in comedy shows including Fresh Meat and The Tuckers, Welsh actress Kimberley Nixon often speaks openly and honestly about her mental health. In a new Instagram post, she has spoken about the severe post-natal depression she suffered when she had her son.
Posting a picture of her in tears, Kimberley said the photo was taken two years ago when she was suffering from post-natal depression and now wants to raise awareness of the condition. She said: "This picture was taken two years ago almost to the day. I had been forced to take a shower. I couldn't stop crying. My baby was 3 months old. I didn't understand what was happening to me. I thought I'd lost my mind/myself/my life and I didn't know WHY?!"
Kimberley added: "It wasn't baby blues. It was a severe postnatal mental health condition. Two years later, I'm a different person...But I'm still so angry that when I needed help, begged for help, it wasn't there. I was made to feel more isolated and 'other' than I already did".
