Leicester City boss Brendan Rodgers has criticised Everton’s record in the transfer market ahead of his team's visit to Goodison Park on Wednesday night.
Everton go into the game in 17th place, three points above Burnley, who have played one game more. Victory would be a huge lift to a Blues side fighting to retain the club's ever-present status in the Premier League.
It's been a difficult season for supporters to endure and Rodgers has indicated that a disjointed approach in the transfer market is to blame for Everton’s current problems. The Blues have spent more than £400m since Farhad Moshiri gained control of the club in 2016 and the former Liverpool boss believes that money has ultimately been spent unwisely.

“It’s well documented there’s a lot of money been spent – a lot of money,” Rodgers said . “But if it doesn’t all join up, then it doesn’t really matter.
“They’ve got good players who go out and work hard and make it difficult and they’ve got players with quality, so it’s probably frustrating for the supporters, I’m sure, because it’s a huge club and the investment’s been huge and they probably wanted better.
"There was obviously a spell on Merseyside at the time I was there (at Liverpool) when Roberto Martinez was doing really well with them, so it’s tough.”
But Rodgers does believe Everton have appointed the right manager in Frank Lampard . The 49-year-old worked at Chelsea as a coach while Lampard was a player and has praised the new Blues boss for surrounding himself with an elite backroom staff.
“I think Frank Lampard will do really well as a manager,” Rodgers added. “He’s gone in there with a really good team of coaches, but of course that overall vision of the club is so, so important.”
