Ed Sheeran broke down in tears in Philadelphia on Saturday night, telling fans 'America is a scary place right now' as he closed a controversy-hit concert at Lincoln Financial Field.

The visibly emotional singer, 35, struggled to compose himself while apologising to parents for bringing the Israel-Gaza issue into a show many had expected to be purely about music.
