  • The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for snow and ice across parts of Scotland, effective until Friday morning.
  • Up to 5cm of snow is expected across areas north of Stirling and around Fort William, with higher elevations potentially seeing 10cm.
  • Separate yellow warnings for strong winds were in place for central, southern, and north-eastern Scotland, northern England, and Northern Ireland on Thursday.
  • Gusts of 50-55mph were widely anticipated, with some coastal areas experiencing up to 70mph, leading to potential travel disruption and power loss.
  • ScotRail implemented speed restrictions on several routes, and some Caledonian MacBrayne ferry services were disrupted due to the blustery conditions.
