New Delhi: Heavy rains lashed many parts of Delhi and adjoining areas of the National Capital Region (NCR) on Saturday, bringing respite from the scorching heat.
After heavy rains in Delhi NCR, low-lying areas were waterlogged at some places, causing inconvenience to the people. Traffic jams were also reported due to rain at many places.
Delhi has recorded above normal rainfall in the last four months. March recorded 53.2 mm against the normal of 17.4 mm, April 20.1 mm against the normal of 16.3 mm, May 111 mm against the normal of 30.7 mm and June 101.7 mm against the normal of 74.1 mm.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted more rains in the coming days but despite that, there seems no respite from the humidity. Water logging has been reported from across the country with people facing difficulties.
IMD said in its daily bulletin that the monsoon is troughing at mean sea level and lies south of its normal position. It said that a cyclonic circulation lies over Jharkhand in lower tropospheric and middle tropospheric levels and may lead to rain. (with Agency inputs)
