The Met Office extended its amber extreme heat weather warning as the country prepares for soaring temperatures across the rest of the week.
The rare warning means high temperatures could lead to a danger to life or potential serious illnesses. Infrastructure could also be affected such as road closures as well as delays or cancellations to rail and air travel.
It comes after a number of meteorologists predicted that the UK may see the hottest day ever recorded on Sunday.
The warning had been issued to cover the whole of Sunday - but has now been extended until midnight on Monday. Temperatures on both days are forecast to be well above 30C.
