Some stormy weather could be hitting Ireland over the next few days, with the latest forecast suggesting that “awful” wind and rain are on the way and expected to blast the west coast.
According to the latest forecast from one weather expert, a low-pressure system that is developing could blustery weather conditions may be in place as early as Tuesday.
While there is still some uncertainty when it comes to the severity of the conditions that are anticipated, overall, current weather models are pointing to a very poor beginning to July.

Weather forecaster Alan O’Reilly, who runs the popular Twitter page Carlow Weather, has been monitoring the upcoming conditions and took note on his page that forecasts have identified Tuesday as a possible day for the impact of some adverse weather.
He wrote on his Carlow Weather social media accounts: “Latest run once again develops that low system Tuesday and brings it right over Ireland with awful wind and rain.
“GFS model shows nothing though. Is the recently upgraded ECMWF model onto something or is it a very poor start to the upgraded model? We shall see!”
Meanwhile, national forecaster Met Eireann also pinpointed Tuesday as the day that stormy conditions could hit Ireland.
It said: “On Tuesday, persistent or heavy rain will spread northeastwards over Ireland and will continue for much of Tuesday night and then clear to the northeast.
“Highest temperatures of 14C to 18C with fresh southeasterly winds, later becoming northwesterly.”
For the rest of the weekend, Met Eireann has forecast scattered showers extending from the north into the south throughout Sunday afternoon.
It will be somewhat cloudy, but the midlands and east of the country will enjoy the best of the sunny spells. Highs of 15C to 18C are forecast.
