We visit a hidden gem Nottinghamshire café that's like stepping back in time

I love a contemporary coffee shop but I'm also a big fan of vintage tea shops - the ones that are quaint and quintessentially British. Vintage china, lacy tablecloths and doilies whisk me back to my childhood and tea with with my dear departed grandma.

I'd have never known about Platform 29's existence if I hadn't been scouring the internet. Sounding like it could have come straight out of Harry Potter, the café isn't actually on a railway platform, but a short walk from the station in Radcliffe-on-Trent.

The tea shop is tucked away off down a narrow alley called Station Terrace, which serves as a shortcut between the railway and the village's main shopping street. Approaching from Shelford Road, I find myself on the narrowest of paths flanked by trees, ivy and shrubbery until it opens out to reveal the café.
