It turns out we've all been getting this Parent Trap character's name completely wrong.
The Parent Trap has been a family favourite since it came out in 1998, starring Lindsay Lohan alongside Natasha Richardson and Dennis Quaid. However, it's actress Lisa Ann Walter's character in the film that fans have been mispronouncing for years.
Appearing on the Chicks in the Office podcast to discuss her role in Disney+ series Abbott Elementary, Lisa Ann Walter was also asked about her role in the film. She confirmed her character's name was Chessy, not Jessie, as many people thought.

When asked about her character's name, Lisa said: "That was the thing when people were like, my whole life has been a lie, I had no idea. But if you think about it, first of all what the hell kind of name is Chessy, and the other thing is, if you don't see it written, and this is before everybody was on the internet, so you would hear it and in the movie it sounds like Jessie, so why would you think it was anything else?
"Apparently it was short for Francesca, and Chessy was the nickname of a designer friend of Nancy Meyers, so that's where it came from."
Many people in the comments were shocked by the revelation. One person said: "Omg! and I have seen this movie a thousand times" and another said: "My whole childhood was a lie! Like wth haha".
However, other eagle-eyed film lovers claimed they had known for years. One person said: "In the scene where the twins are at camp, Hallie shows Annie a photo that says “Chessy” on the Polaroid. That’s why I’ve known for years." and another said: "Oh cmon all the OG’s KNEW it was Chessy!".
