We tried viral sensation the Boston belly-buster from Ron's Quality Snax in East Kilbride

Recently we visited the East Kilbride snack bar which has become somewhat of a TikTok sensation.

Ron's Quality Snax is a well-known establishment in the new town ever since it first opened in 1991, however, it has garnered a new audience through its simple, yet entertaining, videos on the social media platform.

After chatting to the man behind the venture, Ron McClure, we couldn't dare leave without grabbing a bite to eat.

Arguably the hardest part of the process was ordering something because there was so much to choose from, whether it be subs, wraps, chips or more, it was all there.

However, we opted for their signature dish, the Boston Belly-buster.

First question is obvious, why Boston?

Ron spent a few years working in America for Dunkin' Donuts, he even tried to bring the business across to the UK, and during that time he visited the company's university in Massachusetts.

Although he may not have been successful in helping the American company smash into the British market, he did pick up a few recipes across the pond including, philly steaks and various sub sandwiches.

As for the Boston Belly-buster it is very much Scottish at heart. Served in either a crispy or soft roll, it comes packed with meat.

At the base of the sandwich sits the square sausage then a burger is stacked on top. Some fatless bacon is the middle filling before the roll is finished off with a tattie scone and fried egg.

Ron then provided a signature touch by gracefully drawing an 'R' in red sauce on top of the tower.

This is the equivalent to the Mona Lisa for any food van lover.

Upon picking the sandwich up there was evidently a bit of weight to it and the biggest fear at that point was whether it was going to be too greasy to handle.

Much to our surprise there was nothing to worry about, despite being stacked with meat there was no grease.

It was unbelievable, and offered the true snack van experience. All the flavours worked well and the bun held together, even with the egg yolk running through it.

The belly-buster lived up to its extravagant name as we couldn't eat another thing for the rest of the day, but it was worth every bite as no morsel was left to spare.

From our brief visit to Ron's Quality Snax it was clear to see why this snack bar was beloved by locals. It provided you food made with love and a filling treat to set you up for the day.

For those looking for a quick bite that will leave your hunger satisfied a trip to Ron's Quality Snax is a must.
