A popular Mexican takeaway chain has opened in Morley in a hidden location that's a bugger to find if you don't know it's there.
Mexi Bean Express has opened a new branch in Morley in what I would describe as a pretty secret location. We all remember the Mermaid went up for sale? Well what if I told you the new owners plan on running the restaurant as half chippy and the other half as a Mexican.
Over the next 12-months the owners of Mexi Bean Express - and now the new owners of the Mermaid - plan to refurbish the restaurant while trialling their new venture.

Mexi Bean Express is already in operation in Huddersfield, Brighouse and Halifax. The Mexican-inspired menu includes burritos, quesadillas, tacos, loaded fries, chicken wings and more.
As a huge fan of Mexican food I couldn't wait to try this little takeaway that's opened less than 10 minutes from my house.
I phoned our order of a lamb burrito, halloumi burrito and chicken quesadillas - they all came with tortilla chips, salsa dip, sour cream dip and a drink. I was sent a payment link to pay online which I found really effective.
After 20-minutes the food was ready so I went to collect it. As the eatery is currently situated inside the Mermaid it was really hard to find - eventually I had to phone them and they brought the food out to the car park.
I got the food home and couldn't wait to try it, it smelt so good. When we split the food up my vegetarian friend took a bit into what we thought was the halloumi burrito to find they had stuck the wrong sticker on and it was actually lamb. Thankfully she realised before she ate it but, it could have been a lot worse of an outcome if say the person was allergic to the food.
We had also asked for coke zero but was given diet coke - it's not the end of the world I know.
The mistake made by the takeaway didn't spoil the meal, it tasted incredible. And there was so much food - in fact so much that we couldn't finish it all - everything was full of flavour too.
The lamb and halloumi had a little kick to it which was really nice, and I thought the little side dips you got made for a nice touch. We also had some little tubs of jelly beans given with the meal which was lovely.
Overall, I would definitely go back - especially with it being round the corner from me I think I'll end up visiting more than I should probably admit. The food definitely made up for the restaurant's genuine error - although I understand this could have ended a lot worse for other people. I would go as far to say this restaurant is a true hidden gem - I can't wait for the restaurant to open within the next 12-months.
I found the prices fairly reasonable too for the amount of food you got, although it is slightly more pricey than your standard chippy or pizza takeaway.
