We tried Glasgow's 'first cocktail dispensary' at the Alchemist for a taste of the future

Not only does the Alchemist offer a range of incredible cocktails from behind the bar, but the exciting new bar and restaurant which lies just off George Square is also offering customers a taste of the future.

The new whisky dispensary is an uber-cool piece of tech that offers a new and interactive way for people to try cocktails.

Described as the "future of spirit drinking" by Naked Malt, the ‘Dispensary’ conjures three delicious Naked Malt cocktails, the ‘Peach Fuzz’, ‘Nearly Naked’ and the ‘Sour Trip’.

Designed to show the versatility of whisky, The Alchemist’s expert bar team is on hand to guide guests through the experience.

The dispensary features a token system (Naked Malt)

First off, we were given our token before choosing from a ‘Peach Fuzz’ - Naked Malt infused with the spice of Angostura bitters, coupled with citrus, peach and ginger ale, or the ‘Nearly Naked’, a sweet zest, with maple syrup, Benedictine D.O.M., orange bitters and salt.

Or for those wanting a bitter kick, the ‘Sour Trip’ will have you enjoying a warming combination of apricot, citrus and cinnamon, topped with foam.

Whether you prefer a sweet, sour, or even salty serving, there is an option for everyone.

We chose the ‘Nearly Naked’, putting the token in and placing our glass on the shining play under the nozzle.

From there we got to sit back and watch the wizardry as the machinery whizzed to life as the lights in the machine changed colour and fragranced smoke began to pour over the glass as the golden nozzle dispensed the liquid.

Though we normally approach these things with trepidation for fear of them being a bit gimmicky, the final cocktail was very well-made and pleasing on the palate.

It was all pretty impressive and another string to the Alchemist's already impressive bow, and don't worry, for those preferring the personal touch there are still plenty of human bartenders on hand to make you one of their own signature drinks.
