We tried the new seventies style Everyman Cinema located on the top floor of the St James Quarter that opened last weekend and it was out of this world.
The state of the art cinema promises an "elevated" cinema experience - and we were not disappointed.
Going on a Thursday night it was fairly busy and as soon as we walked in we were greeted by friendly staff who invited us to sit in the cool green themed bar area until the screen was ready.

The chic drinking area even has an ode to Edinburgh's own film history with a portrait of Renton hanging above the bar.
We went to see the new American slasher X which is set in the seventies and the cool retro interior made the experience of escaping into the film even more surreal.
The corridor leading to the screen our film was shown in, was painted with large orange stripes which felt like walking through an old style Funhouse at the fair.
The small screen continued with the orange aesthetic with luxurious velvet couches in a burnt orange tone and funky patterned wallpaper.
There are ushers in the screen who come and take your order before the film starts, and most of the refreshments were served before it began.
Instead of just getting popcorn we tried something new ordering a steak hot dog which was a posh twist on a cinema classic and three small plates calamari, chorizo and chilli fried halloumi.
The dishes looked divine, and we paid £15 for all three which wasn't bad at all with the hotdog coming to £7.05.

We stuck with tap water as we had just been for a game of mini golf and had slushies downstairs at Lane7 but were pleasantly surprised to be given an iced jug of cold water and glasses to bring in to the screen meaning no getting up for refills.
It's definitely an exclusive experience for a real special occasion where you can escape from the real world and really enjoy a VIP treat.
At £15 a ticket, it is quite pricey but considering you are probably paying about £5 for the film like you would at a standard cinema and about a tenner for the experience, I definitely think its worth it.
After all the setting and atmosphere is one of the most important parts of creating a cinematic experience and the stylish interior of the new Everyman cinema is out of this world.
