Strolling down to George Square Gardens, the heart of the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, you will pass many food and drink trucks serving mouth watering delicacies from across the world. The choice can be overwhelming and sometimes the prices can too.
On a Sunny afternoon after seeing a show in the nearby Gilded Ballon Teviot House, we headed down to the area to find some lunch. Situated on the quieter side of George Square towards Middle Meadow Walk, is a bright and colourful van with a name that will be familiar with Edinburgh Locals.

Khushi's Jingle Bus was built in Pakistan and lovingly decorated in country's traditional style before making the long trip to Scotland. The food on offer is a variety of Indian street food including filled curry wraps, well known Indian snacks and the delicious Kulfi, Indian Ice Cream.
We had heard that there was a Khushi's pop up at the Fringe but we didn't know exactly where it was, situated just outside of George Square Gardens the van is a welcome addition to the 2022 food line-up.
The first thing we were surprised at was the reasonable prices, compared to the rest of the food venues inside of the gardens you can get a dish at the van for as little as £6.95.
The menu includes, Samosa Chaat, Chicken Masala Wraps, Spiced Toasted Corn and Vegetable Pakora Wraps as well as some other options.
We selected a Chicken Masala wrap which we got cut in half to share and a Samosa Chaat which came with chickpea curry, toasted corn, salad and pomegranate seeds. The portions were a really good size for the price which was welcomed - watching shows is hungry work.
The chicken Masala wrap was absolutely delicious, really tasty and had a kick to it which was nice. Secondly we had the Samosa, this was a really good value dish with many tasty and healthy ingredients that come together to create a well-rounded dish.

All the food was presented beautifully and didn’t take long at all. After sitting in George Square Gardens and enjoying the filling lunch in the sun we headed back for a Kulfi - a traditional and well-known Indian ice-cream which comes in several flavours.
This was a perfect light dessert to finish and with all the food we ordered it cost around £10 per person for the festival lunch.
