We The Curious issue statement after major fire breaks out

Major Bristol tourist attraction We The Curious has issued a statement after a serious fire broke out in the roof of the museum.

Fire crews have been called to the scene in Millennium Square following the incident this afternoon. Black smoke could be seen rising high into the sky from across Bristol city centre.

We The Curious has been evacuated and all people are accounted for. Cordons are in place with fire crews remaining at the scene tackling the blaze.

In one photo, flames can be seen surging out the top of the roof of the building. Meanwhile in the immediate area, sirens can be heard blazing out emergency calls as they rush to the scene.

It is currently unknown what the cause of the fire may have been. Lots of onlookers have gathered nearby to watch the scenario unfold.

A spokesperson for We The Curious said: "Our venue has been evacuated following a fire alarm, caused by a fire on our roof. Avon Fire and Rescue Service and the police are currently on site, all staff and visitors are accounted for. More updates to follow as we have them."
