We simulated Hibernian vs Rangers to get a score prediction as Alfredo Morelos stars at Easter Road

Rangers can continue to put pressure on Celtic on Wednesday night when they face Hibernian in the Scottish Premiership.

Goals from Conor Goldson, Fashion Sakala and James Tavernier secured a 3-1 win for Rangers in their last outing, with the win the seventh in a row in the league for Michael Beale's side. Despite the impressive run, the Gers remain nine points behind Celtic in the Premiership, with the Hoops also yet to drop points since the draw between the two sides at the beginning of the year.

History is on the Light Blues' side heading into Wednesday, with Rangers having only been beaten once in their last 18 meetings with Hibs. Both meetings so far this season have been close affairs though, with the Gers drawing 2-2 at Easter Road and winning 3-2 at the Ibrox.

So, could Rangers continue their winning run on Wednesday? We used FIFA 23 to try and predict the score, and this is what happened.

Hibernian vs Rangers score predicted by simulation

To complete this simulation, we used FIFA 23 and updated the Rangers squad with the latest injuries and suspensions.

We expect that Rangers could set up in a 4-2-3-1 formation, with their line-up as follows: McGregor; Tavernier, Goldson, Davies, Barisic; Raskin, Lundstram, Cantwell; Sakala, Morelos, Kent.

We predict that the hosts could set up in a 4-2-3-1 formation, with their line-up as follows: Marshall; Cadden, Fish, Hanlon, Cabaja; Egan-Riley, Jeggo; Henderson, Campbell, Youan; Hoppe.

Rangers suffered a scare in the opening minute of the game when Matthew Hoppe rippled the net with a volley from Josh Campbell's long ball, but the striker was offside, and the goal was ruled out. The offside strike proved a wake-up call for Beale's side, and they took the lead after 14 minutes through Alfredo Morelos.

Some good pressure from Todd Cantwell saw the Englishman win back possession just inside the Hibs half, with the midfielder and Morelos surging forward in a two-versus-two situation. As both defenders drew towards Cantwell, the 25-year-old threaded a pass into the path of Morelos, and the striker fired through the legs of the 'keeper to make it 1-0.

Cantwell was a big threat all evening, and the midfielder was unlucky not to have a goal himself when he struck the post with a curling effort from distance. Rangers were in control, and they solidified their lead in the 68th minute when Morelos notched his second of the night.

On the right, Fashion Sakala duped his marker to push towards goal, but his original shot hit the legs of the defender and the rebound fell to the feet of Morelos. Just outside the box, the Colombian striker hit the loose ball first time, and his effort flew into the far corner to double the Gers' lead and secure another big win.
