We simulated Chelsea vs Liverpool to get a FA Cup final score prediction

Liverpool will be looking to claim their second trophy of the season on Saturday when they face Chelsea in the FA Cup final.

Wins against Shrewsbury Town, Cardiff City, Norwich City, Nottingham Forest and Manchester City have seen the Reds advance all the way to the showpiece for the first time since 2012. That year's final saw Liverpool lose 2-1 to Chelsea but Jurgen Klopp will be hoping his team can reverse the outcome this time around.

This will be the second cup final between the sides this season with the Reds having beaten Thomas Tuchel's team on penalties in the Carabao Cup final back in February. And they go into the game on the back of a 2-1 win at Aston Villa that kept their Premier League title hopes alive. However, they suffered a blow when Fabinho came off.

PAUL GORST: Liverpool know Chelsea truth in FA Cup final as Jurgen Klopp honesty admirable

The injury has ruled the key midfielder out of contention for the FA Cup final. But otherwise Liverpool boss Klopp should have a fully fit squad.

So, what line-ups will both teams select? And, what could the final score be? We used FIFA 22 to get a score prediction and this is what happened...

Chelsea vs Liverpool score predicted by simulation

We used kick-off mode in FIFA 22 but didn't select a team to control. We then selected the teams and watched the match play out by itself, to give us a score prediction.

We predict that Chelsea could set up in a 3-4-2-1 formation, with their line-up as follows: Mendy; Azpilicueta, Silva, Rudiger; James, Kante, Kovacic, Alonso; Mount, Pulisic; Lukaku.

We predict that Liverpool could set up in a 4-3-3 formation, with their line-up as follows: Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Matip, Van Dijk, Robertson; Henderson, Keita, Thiago; Salah, Mane, Diaz.

Liverpool started quickly and created a few chances, but Chelsea took the lead early on with their first chance of the game through Mason Mount. The midfielder intercepted a loose pass from Jordan Henderson and started a break down the right.

Mount played a quick exchange of passes with Reece James who threaded a pass into the box for Mount to chase. And, even when off balance, the England star found the top right corner with a dipping effort. The Blues' lead didn't last long, though, as Liverpool levelled the scoring minutes later through Sadio Mane.

A cross into the box by Trent Alexander-Arnold was sliced into the path of Mane by Cesar Azpilicueta. The ball fell to the feet of the Senegal forward and he volleyed a powerful effort into the bottom corner to make it 1-1. And not long after the first, the Reds found their second, once again following some poor defending by Chelsea. Alexander Arnold was heavily involved again, too, this time skipping past his marker on the right before fizzing a cross into the box. Mohamed Salah was left unmarked and the Egyptian tapped past Édouard Mendy.

Chelsea started to put on the pressure as they looked for an equaliser but Romelu Lukaku missed a great chance as his penalty was saved by Alisson half an hour in. But Lukaku's blushes were spared five minutes before the break.

Christian Pulisic cut across Joel Matip and took aim from just outside the box. His effort was heading for the far right corner only for it to take a wicked deflection off Virgil van Dijk as it flew past Alisson and into the centre of the goal.

But Liverpool were finding plenty of joy down the right side of the pitch in the second half and they managed to get their third of the game from attacking that side.

Alexander-Arnold played a long ball down the right for Salah to chase and he burst past Marcos Alonso as he approached the goal. Antonio Rudiger couldn't catch up and Salah curled his effort past Mendy from a narrow angle to make it 3-2.

The Reds' No.11 then had a chance to make it 4-2, when he was brought down in the box for a penalty by Rudiger, but his effort was poor, flying over the bar. Chelsea were unable to find an equaliser, however, and Liverpool won the FA Cup.
