We shouldn't help Ukraine just for the money say Leeds folk opening their homes to refugees

People across Leeds say they would be happy to home a Ukrainian refugee regardless of the financial offer from the government.

The UK government issued an announcement on Monday (March 14) confirming they have developed a 'Homes for Ukraine' scheme. MPs hope Brits will put themselves forward to help refugees by offering up their property or a spare room.

A website where you can express interest in the scheme has launched and anyone interested will have to stick to it for six months. As a "thank you", those who sign up will receive £350 a month aimed to help cover the costs of housing another individual.
